Work on the 290 million US. dollar Colombo-Katunayake Expressway project which was started in 2009 is to be completed by September this year.
The Expressway is 25.1 kilometers in length, 25.4 meters in width and has 4 lanes.
It will take motorists around 20 minutes to reach Colombo.
It will have five interchanges at New Kelani Bridge, Peliyagoda, Kerawalapitiya, Ja-Ela and Katunayake, The flyover at Kerawelapitiya is 480 metres in length.
The Heads of States and other delegates arriving to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and other allied Conferences to be held in Sri Lanka in November will be welcomed on this.
